So yesterday we toured the historic fort up at Sandy Hook / Gateway NRA, and the best thing we saw was two of the Victorian gun batteries they have up there, which are right next to each other, and are named Battery Potter and Battery Granger. (Granger was, of course, faster and more long-ranging than Potter, but that's not a suprise.) Then there was the Nine-Gun Battery, which we decided of course was referring to the nine Weasleys.

day 4, morning

Day Four of road trip and we're just south of Boston! We've done most of Acadia National Park over 24 hours and Southwest Harbor on Mt. Desert Island, Old Orchard Beach ME (and last night in Saco on the highway), Mystery Hill NH (aka America's Stonehenge), the largest collective of witch kitcsh in the country (aka Salem MA), and Boston by night. Yesterday is our Weird Stuff day, considering Mystery Hill, Salem, that flight of black helicopters we saw, and UFOs over Saco.

I would do the "WiPs I'm not writing" meme-thingy, but the reason I haven't been writing is that I've lost all the character voices (probably due to not watching much TV lately), so little script-form dialogues with the characters, not so worky. (although if someone wanted to ask me about a fandom in comments, I'd be willing to *try* writing up what I'm not writing in it - I need a kick-start somewhere. And yes, that's *any* fandom whatsoever, whether I've written in it before or not.)

So things conspired against me - which is to say, ST coming up in a bunch of online conversations, and me finally getting my hands on "The Empty Chair" and my sister buying all the DVD sets and carrying them about like a security blanket - and I ended up spending much of the evening putting Star Trek books into LT. The number of more useful things I could have been doing instead is as myriad as ... well, as myriad as the Star Trek books, but Used Book Sale Season is coming up. And anyway, sometimes a girl just needs to spend some time with her Star Trek books.
